Greetings from Sudan defenders!

Executive Summary:

Welcome to the July issue of our newsletter, in which we highlight the alarming human rights violations that occurred this month in Sudan amid the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces. Our comprehensive newsletter is based on field observations, credible judicial documents, and insights from various human rights organizations and UN agencies.

In this issue, we delve into the numerous violations affecting civilians across various states, including tragic cases of extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrests, sexual violence, and forced displacement, which have led to major humanitarian crises. Monitoring teams have documented the impact of targeted attacks on displacement camps and medical facilities, as well as the dire conditions facing forcibly displaced persons.

We also highlight the difficult conditions faced by human rights defenders in conflict zones, emphasizing their resilience in the face of severe restrictions and threats. Through this newsletter, we aim to uncover the patterns behind these violations, examine their underlying drivers, and offer practical recommendations to protect civilians, ensure accountability, and end impunity.

This month, we feature Naseeba Ibrahim, a feminist activist from Kassala, eastern Sudan, whose experience highlights the strength and resilience of the community in these challenging times.

I invite you all to check out our June newsletter.
